St. Patrick's Day concert

Keith and Kristyn Getty came to the college for the day!  They offered some workshops in the afternoon and then a beautiful and powerful concert that night -- for which we had front-row seats.  Such a treat!  Pete and I also got to have dinner with Keith and visit with the band and Kristyn after the show, which made it a very memorable night indeed.

Nonna and Poppa come to the beach

The rest of the family had to go back home to resume their normal responsibilities but Jinna and I stayed for an extra week in the Carolinas (yay!!!!).  Mom and Dad came to join us at the beach for a few days and we took them around to show them our favorite spots.  Jinna and I were spoiled!

One night they took us out to the tavern here on the island.  The interior is pretty wild -- dollar bills that customers have signed all over the walls!  Poppa put one up with my name on it.  :)

Now we have to come back next year and see if we can find it!

Beaufort

On this trip we were able to visit a town I've been wanting to see for a long time:  Beaufort, SC.  And it did not disappoint!  We spent a couple of beautiful hours wandering around to soak in the architecture, and also ate lunch at "Plums" on the water, which was perfect.

Craziest Beach We've Been On

At the very tip of Hunting Island there is a short nature trail that we walked, and it ended up on the most bizarre beach we've ever seen.  Apparently a hurricane destroyed it a few years ago, and the resulting landscape is beautiful in some ways.

It also ended up being a great beach for finding sand dollars!

Hunting Island

About 2 miles down the road from our beach house was the entrance to Hunting Island State Park, and we loved going over there almost every day.  Sometimes we hiked through the paths, sometimes on the fishing pier, sometimes on the beach.  They had a fun nature center and a beautiful lighthouse to visit.  And we saw our first alligator of the trip there.  :)

Savannah

On one of the cooler days of our trip we decided to venture down to Savannah so Strider could show us his favorite town.  Such a cool place!  We walked around down by the water, and then strolled up to the historic district with its many parks.

We got dinner at Savannah Seafood Shack, which was delicious.  What a fun afternoon!

Harbor Island Trip

For "spring" break this year, we left behind the wintery greys of the GC and sought the sunshiney rays of the beach on Harbor Island.  Within 24 hours we went from this:

to this:

Even though a few of the days were chilly, the a couple of the boys made it a point to get in the water every single day.  Crazy.

We felt like we had the whole island to ourselves, rarely saw anyone here all week.

During low tide the water goes REALLY far out and the boys were able to walk out to a couple of other little islands, including Pelican Point where they chased a bunch of pelicans.  I wished I had a better camera to capture it from a distance.
We found treasures like a clementine tree and clams
.... and mostly enjoyed tooling around in our golf cart, going to find alligators or play tennis or pickleball.

It was the perfect vacation spot for this fam!
