Back to school!

We are back to only 3 students at Poplar Streams Academy, and all of them are only part-time.

Colsen is taking chemistry, American lit, and 3-D printing/design at the public school, history and Spanish at the Christian academy, and music, art, Bible and pre-calculus at home.

Miles is taking history, literature, writing and art at the Christian school, and the rest of us subjects at home.

Jinna is taking writing, science and art at the Christian academy and the rest at home.

We had our traditional first-day-of-school apple pie for breakfast, and even one of our alums came home for a slice.

Looks like it will be a great year!

Miles barbershop

Miles has decided he likes cutting hair.  Thankfully there are many boys in his life who are willing to let him experiment on their heads!  Donnie, the local barber in town, got Miles all set up with a chair and some tools, so our third floor now has a barbershop in it.  It's made me more than a little nervous when some of the guys came over right before their senior pictures were to be taken.... but at least hair always grows back!

....And even more about birthdays...

Pete had one final birthday celebration when Karen and Tom took us out for dinner at Pusadee's Garden in Lawrenceville.  It was soooo good!

Topped off dinner at a bakery.... could not have been a more perfect food night!

Speaking of birthdays...

....Someone was pretty excited to turn 20 -- and try on her new clothes from Nonna and Poppa.

Her original birthday plans to go to Ohio had to be postponed because Jinna got covid, but Rayna still had a good weekend; getting to go see Treebeard Brown was definitely a highlight!

Pete's Surprise Party

We couldn't let the big 5-0 go by without a big event, so I continued my tradition of throwing a big party for each decade.  This time the theme was a 1950's cocktail party and we invited our friends from Redeemer to Dan and Amy's house.  Pete was quite surprised!  We loved having so many friends in one place so we could see them all at once.

The guests had a game they could play to get points and win a prize; dressing in 1950's garb earned a person 15 points and some of our friends really went for it!

Charlotte Trip

Our final trip of the summer was the longest and perhaps the best one... back to Charlotte to see the fam!

The day we arrived the whole Wray clan gathered to celebrate Pete's 50th birthday -- he was surprised and loved it.

We had all kinds of fun times over the next week, playing golf and disc golf...

....visiting with friends...

.... and swimming at the Deuces.
Always good to be back in Charlotte!

After the trip, the boys went on to Florence, SC, to join the rest of their youth group for a mission trip.  They were gone from home for a long time, and thrived!
