College students

We always love the opportunities to be around the GCC students, and this week was no exception.  Many, many students attend our church every Sunday (to the extent that people have to sit in the aisles and the hallways) and we realized just what an asset that was when the youth group held a bake sale to raise money for their missions trip.

We set up all of the goodies on a bunch of tables outside the church one Sunday and as soon as the service was over, it took approximately 30 minutes (combined for both services) to sell $800 worth of baked goods!  College students are hungry after church.  I've never seen anything like it.

Then we had the opportunity to get to know some of the students more personally when Strider brought his fraternity brothers over for Jinna's birthday.  He asked me the day before if he could bring a few friends.... and then called me mid-afternoon the next day to tell me that it *might* end up being a few more than he thought.  In the end he brought 17 friends.

We had a good time -- although Jinna thought it was a pretty weird birthday party!
