5-Star Getaway!

This past weekend, while Nonna and Poppa came here to stay with Strider, Rayna, and Colsen, Pete and I were able to use our Christmas gift certificate to the SonShine Inn! It was, by far, the nicest place we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Not only did we have the use of an entire, huge house and surrounding gardens to ourselves, but we were also completely pampered with all kinds of food and other amenities!

When we arrived, there was more food prepared for us than we could possibly eat in a whole week -- everything from paninis and gourmet chicken dinners, to a breakfast quiche, gorgeous fruit platter and salad. All kinds of "treats" also awaited us... of the alcoholic nature, as well as appetizers and desserts... This is my favorite kind of scene:
Other favorite details of mine included cherries (I rarely buy these at home because they're way too messy for my kids) and a bathroom scale which was thoughtfully set to 2-pounds-below-zero, so I felt lighter than normal (and could justify eating all the great food!)

We were able to sip our gin-and-tonic out on the screened in porch, listen to the frogs in the waterfall at night, eat luxurious meals in peace, nap in the middle of the day, sleep in a little, and have conversations and more conversations -- all with just minimal interruptions!

Pete and I had saved up a whole bunch of topics we needed to discuss, so this was great time for that. Some of our conversations included: writing our family motto, picking life verses for our kids, our character education plans for this school year, our school schedule, Disney trip plans, and furniture plans. We got a lot accomplished!

We got plenty of R&R&R (rest, relaxation and romance).... although some of it was dampened slightly by our increasingly-demanding little companion:

But overall, it was a fantastic gift. The management of Sonshine Inn was so thoughtful... it was almost as if they actually knew us! We highly recommend this 5 1/2-diamond-rated establishment.

(Thanks, Mom and Dad, for a perfect Christmas gift!)
