What swimming does to one's hair

Strider has been wanting to express himself with a crazy hairstyle for awhile now. He was asking to get it cut in a mohawk, and we had agreed to let him.... and then he joined the neighborhood swim team. There was a boy on the team who had a mohawk and Strider decided he didn't like how it looked. And then he became friends with another boy on the team, who had dyed his hair blonde. And Strider thought that was pretty awesome.

So after some begging, negotiating, etc., he got his wish to dye his hair.

I never thought I would see this scene in my bathroom:


We ended up rinsing the color out earlier than the directions said, so the result is not quite as blonde as we anticipated it would be... But Strider's pretty thrilled anyway! And even Pete and I have to admit it's a fun summer look. :)
