Since school is winding down, we planned a big field trip to the NC zoo.... but then it rained like crazy. So we decided to stay closer to home and Pete took the 3 younger kids to the Raptor Center instead. They all love birds, although Colsen is still our chief ornithologist.
(He made this up yesterday: "You know what birds say when they're surprised by something or scared? They say, "Well, bless my feathers and twidge my beak!"
He said it in a nice slow, Southern drawl.... made me laugh.)
The day proved to be full of adventures and wildlife sightings... . a perfect field trip.
Plus, when you go out on a rainy day, you get the picnic area to yourselves!
