At the peak of summer

Strider is in gray in the center of the front row
This past week Strider attended a Youth Apologetics Camp every day.  (And no, it's not a place where they learn how to apologize... although that would have been nice, too.)  He and a bunch of other teens all got to hear several well-known apologists explain about our faith, and how it compares with other worldviews, etc.

In the mornings they listened to speakers and then in the afternoons they played games -- basically variations of Dodgeball every day from what I gather.

He heard Norman Geisler, David Geisler, Bobby Conway, and a few other folks, but his favorite was Nabeel (http://creed26.com/) who spoke for 2 hours on the last day.  Strider says his stories were a-ma-zing.

Today I took a little nap after church, and as I was just trying to wake up, Strider came in after reading one of his new books and asked, "Mom, can something end that has no beginning?  And can something begin that has no end?".... and then went on to give me some discourse on which of those was true, and why.  My head was too fuzzy from the nap to catch much of it, but I was glad to hear some of the camp talks were apparently resonating with him!

As soon as that camp was over (an hour later), the youth group weekend retreat started, so he was out having fun, getting wet and muddy and buggy,  for 2 more days!

While Strider was gone all week, the rest of us packed in some good ol' social times -- summer is our best opportunity for that!  So we kicked of "Cousins Weeks" with a visit up to the Dreschers and Clarks, had dinner with some friends, had lunch with some of our Moldova connections, and visited with our Rwandan friends.

Oh-- and we dressed up like cows for free Chick-Fil-A lunches.... and ran into friends there....

...and, Rayna got a haircut....

... the boys got to ride in a Porsche...

.... AND, Strider got the Coach's award for his age group on the swim team!

So, it's been a terrific summer week!
