Just had this conversation:
Me: Strider, I'm signing you for debate next year. Why don't I also sign you up for some speech events, too?
Strider: No! I'm only going to do the Impromptu category.
Me: I think it would be good for you to learn how to write and give speeches in some of the other categories.
Strider: Mom, 95% of speeches are impromptu in life. No, really 100% of them are! Everything we say is impromptu! What I'm saying to you right now is impromptu! And I didn't even have a minute to prepare for it!
