Wing Haven Gardens

Yesterday the kids and I took an afternoon field trip to explore some gardens, look for some birds and other wildlife, and (by far the biggest attraction) visit with Nonna.

Tucked right in a neighborhood near the city is Wing Haven, a quiet, peaceful bird sanctuary with gardens -- at least it was quiet and peaceful until we got there.  Despite my best attempts to have the kids use hushed voices and walk carefully, all the paths and ponds and ball-like fruits on the ground brought out the "wildlife side" of the kids.  Needless to say, we didn't see too many birds.

But it was still a fun adventure!  And we did see a little wildlife....

And there was definitely plenty to of other things to explore and look for...

It was a beautiful way to spend a Fall afternoon!
(Really -- they did have a good time... except for the 3 seconds it took to take this picture apparently)
