Off to the races

This weekend was Wingate's Homecoming, and as part of the festivities there were a couple of races that our men were able to participate in. This was Strider's very first race, so it was very exciting!

Pete signed up to run the 5K, and Strider decided to do the 1.5 mile. Colsen, in Zaccheus fashion, announced that he wanted to be able to see over all the people, so he found a good spot.

And then the runners took off! (Strider is in the middle of the picture below)
Pete is in a black shirt below (not the person with the long dark hair)
Rayna, Miles, and a now-descended Colsen all cheered for Strider's last sprint.
There was some confusion over the course routes, so Strider, who was in front of the 1.5 milers, took a wrong turn and ended up with a bit of a short-cut accidentally. He finished in first place -- and we're pretty sure that even if he had taken the right road, he still might have been in the front... Anyway, he ran very hard and purposefully, and didn't even complain about the hills, and we're very proud of him! He had a great pace all the way through.

Then, it was time to look for Daddy's return...
Here he comes!
Pete also had a great finish, first in his age group, and only was beaten by a few of the young-buck students. :)

We're very proud of our guys!
Now that Strider has had this first fun foray into running, we'll see if he ends up being a literal "Strider!"

  1. It's me again. Congratulations Strider! Your page brings back wonderful memories of running 5K's and 10k's and 1/2 marathon with our kids.
