What a gorgeous Fall weekend to spend with great friends in a beautiful state park!
The 20 of us rented cabins in Hanging Rock State Park, and enjoyed some good communal living. :) I'm not sure which was better: the daytime hours spent playing football, hiking and hiking, building a campfire, and sharing meals together, or the evening (and late evening) hours during which the adults gathered in one cabin to talk and talk and talk, while the kids either went to sleep or played outside or in other cabins. We covered all kinds of crazy topics, from "the hidden rules" of different socio-economic groups, to how God values the sense of hearing, to whether or not all 3 of the men should have the same exact pair of shoes.
My favorite moment though was when I walked outside one evening and heard some loud singing. Then I realized it was our collective group of kids on a cabin porch, and they were singing "Oh, how I love Jesus," "Bless the Lord O My Soul," and other sweet songs -- at the top of their lungs. It made me tear up to hear them singing on their own like that. Later, though, I was informed that they were singing "in protest" because someone wouldn't let them in that cabin. :)
Some pics from the weekend:
We mothers tried not to freak out too much at the top of Hanging Rock, trying to keep everyone away from the edges -- because we were up on this rock (below):
We are thankful for times away with friends when we can grow together!
What a crew!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like that was a very fun weekend!! Congratulations on bringing everyone home in one piece!!
