Something about the campus of the Naval Academy sure brought out
the need to climb, as Strider kept calling it, in my boys! There were way too many times when I or someone else was yelling, "No, don't jump from there!" or "Come back down; you're not supposed to be up there!"
Even Miles was passionately drawn to anything he could climb... making us do this a lot:
Considering the fact that some of the midshipmen we've known have considered it a personal goal to climb to the top of, and rappel down from, every building on campus, I'm guessing that some boys feel this "need to climb" here even when they get much older. It must be something about the architecture.
