Interview with myself

Me: So, Amy, you must think it's weird that I'm talking to you in this way.
Me: No, not really. It's pretty much been my modus operandi this week. With Pete, Strider, Rayna and Colsen all in Ohio, and Miles with his under-developed conversation skills as my only company, I've been pretty much been talking to myself a lot lately. This feels pretty normal now.

Me: Wow, you've been on your own a lot then. How has that gone?
Me: Well, it's actually been quite good! I've had a lot of time to just listen to the quiet, look at the sky, think, etc. It's been a good time of spiritual re-tuning. And even going for walks is nice because I don't have to stop at every street corner and make sure all my kids on their bikes get across safely. Going in a straight line, in more ways than one, has been very refreshing.

Me: I'm sure you miss everyone in Ohio, though, don't you?
Me: Oh, of course! I can't believe you even had to ask that. When I talked to Colsen on the phone recently, he said, "Mom, this is going to make you haaaapppy: we're coming home tomorrow!" And, yes, that does make me very happy.

Me: What have you been doing with all your time this week?
Me: Great question, self! I had 4 big projects to accomplish this week: Do lesson planning for the school year, re-organize the entire bonus room/craft area, make a scrapbook for Miles' first year of life, and organize all the kids' clothes for a consignment sale. Right now I'm about 70% through with these projects... but now I'm procrastinating by talking to myself! I still have 1 more day to get more done...

Me: And how has Miles been this week?
Me: He's been so much fun as my little buddy. I love how much he can communicate with me; he's been good company. He also cracks me up when he wants me to sing a song: he does this little air guitar motion and "sings" until I get the point. Not sure how he figured out the guitar part! He did have a fever yesterday, so that was damper on our time together, but today he seems to have rebounded well. We've spent a lot of time each day just hugging, per his frequent requests.

Me: Any other highlights from the week?
Me: Oh several...
1.) Going to visit Amy, Kai and Addie, and seeing Titus and Katie for lunch there, too. (And Miles had a play-date there while I ran some errands!)
2.) Having Mom here to help me out with some things and play with Miles
3.) Figuring out to trap and throw outside a humongous bug (like 2-inches long!). In the past I would have packed up and moved out of the house for the week if I had seen that thing in my living room when Pete wasn't home. But look how much I've grown now!

Me: Well, I won't take up any more of your precious time. Go be productive while you can! But let me just say in conclusion that it was so fascinating talking to you. I really think you might be one of my most favorite people to talk to.
Me: Why, thank you very much. Likewise, I'm sure. You know I'm willing to give you the inside scoop anytime.

  1. You are very funny! One kids for a few days...sounds like bliss! How's your Mom?
I was in Marshville but it was a very quick visit. I did actually spin through our street on my way in....I couldn't resist. I looked for you! Your house looked very quiet. Our old house looked...abandoned. What's up with that?
