Getting adjusted

Pete finally sent me some pictures so I can see how life is going for them over there...  This first one cracked me up.  After a few nights of everyone not sleeping well, Pete decided to get a little more aggressive and woke the boys up earlier than they wanted to get up.... obviously:
Once they were up and about, though, they were ready to explore.

The big highlights were seeing some Christmas decorations ("Old" Christmas, which is celebrated in Moldova was just this past Saturday and New Year's is this coming weekend) and McDonalds!
We actually very rarely have ever taken the kids to McDonalds in the U.S. so this was a big, and semi-exotic, treat!  In fact, for Milo, it was his first time.

Happy Meals and Happy eaters!

And now they're tucked back in for the night.

Rayna had a follow-up appointment this morning to see if her pneumonia has fully cleared out... and it turns out it hasn't.  This is a little worrisome to me... but at this point we're still planning on traveling tomorrow.  Pray for us -- and especially for her, that all of the sleeplessness and time-zone shifting won't cause a set-back for her.

We're looking forward to being reunited as a family soon!

  1. That is the longest couch I have ever seen! So excited for you guys! What an amazing adventure. I'm glad Rayna is getting better and hope the trip is smooth and easy for you two.
Glad to hear we are not the only ones who do not 'do' Mcdonalds. Owen and Cait have never been and Zach and John have had it once.....when the power went out when we lived down the street from you! They think it's gross! Yea! Thinking of you all daily.

  2. I'm sure you will be all right. I miss Chisinau - we sometimes took the kids for a treat to that same McD... (We're the same way - a very rare treat.)

Better be prepared than having to google it while having a bleeding screaming child in your lap (like I did when Leah cut her lip). They are very competent and speak English. Also, the clinic is spickety-clean which is always my first concern.

    Good luck!
