Being a family

For the last couple of months the work schedules Pete and I have had have been a little crazy. Pretty much every night, between Pete's classes, my tutoring, and other meetings, one of us has been out of the house. Pete was teaching 3 nights a week for about a month, and then just as that wound down, the SAT high-season hit, and I got slammed with a bunch of tutoring assignments.

The kids have started asking us each day who is going to be here for dinner with them, and on the rare nights when we are all here, everyone gets very excited.

Tonight I got home from work at 7:30. Rayna got so excited to see me in the kitchen, with Daddy, that she announced, "Let's be a family!!" We laughed at her and told her we're always a family, so then she switched her verbs to say, "Let's DO a family!!"

We still weren't sure what she meant, until she dragged all of us into the living room and made us get in a big circle, and do, essentially, a group hug. She was sooooo happy. And so was everyone else.

We're thankful for our sweet girl who gives us sweet moments like these!
