St. Nicholas Day Synopsis

The food:
For breakfast we made a traditional food eaten on St. Nicholas Day in Germany...
... Pfannkuchen!
Then for lunch we had a little fun
(We've been reading about reindeer in school)
Dinner was made from spices we brought back from Turkey
(since St. Nicholas was from there).... and then Santa hats for dessert.  :)

The friends:

We enjoyed dinner with some friends -- some of the same folks
who came to our first big St. Nick celebration in '07!
Place-cards for dinner

The traditions:
After dinner the whole group engaged in our favorite type of stealth missions in the dark... imitating St. Nicholas.  Then we came home and our kids went to bed excited to see if St. Nick would come fill their stockings.  And he did!
"Wait- - can I eat these gold coins??"
Even the oldest still likes finding treasures in his stocking.
We had a fun day celebrating!
