This spring Strider has been playing on the Muckdogs team, and their record for the season was about even with wins and losses. He's had a great year, often getting to pitch, and the rest of the time playing either first or third base, or catcher.
The league playoffs were this weekend, and since his team was seeded in the bottom half of the teams, they had to play a better team right off the bat. (ha ha ha-- baseball humor) The game was very exciting, and we were thrilled to have Uncle Deuce, Kai, and his cousin Nate come be part of Strider's cheering section.
The best part was -- they won the game!! Yay for the underdogs/Muckdogs!

This time the Dreschers came to be part of the cheering squad. (Doesn't Ava make quite the fashion plate with her pirate-y princess outfit from an earlier birthday party?)
For this game, the Muckdogs faced the Thunder -- a team that had beaten them 3 teams this season, and had gone almost undefeated. But the Muckdogs played their hearts out, and were better than they had ever been....
Here's Strider batting...
He had a fantastic hit late in the game and was part of a string of teammateswho got runs....
And they ended up winning the game! Muckdogs, League Champions!
They had a little awards ceremony on the field...
What an exciting end to the season!
Afterwards, the Dreschers stayed and we had a little pizza picnic, time on the playground, and jaunt to Brusters, resulting in 8 very dirty, sweaty, messy, happy kids. Well, all were happy except for little Sagey who got her face mashed into the car frame accidentally...
(She recovered quickly)
As we drove home last night, I told Pete that it felt like the quintessential Summer Night. I hope our summer didn't peak too early!
